Nick Aronoff

Rooted in Laguna for four generations

Nick Aronoff is a fourth-generation Laguna Beach resident with deep family roots in the community dating back to the late 1940s. Raised in Laguna Beach, Nick developed an early appreciation for the city's coastal character, small-town feel, and the balance required to preserve its quality of life. His upbringing here shaped a pragmatic, solutions-oriented perspective grounded in local values and a lasting commitment to Laguna's quality of life.

After graduating from Southern Methodist University, Nick spent two years teaching English in southern Spain before working in China and Vietnam and traveling to nearly 90 countries. Those experiences gave him a global perspective, but they also reinforced what he had always known: Laguna Beach is home.

Nick brings a professional background in operations, business development, and strategic growth, with experience building and optimizing systems across multiple industries. He has worked closely with business leaders, stakeholders, and community partners to drive efficiency, manage budgets, and execute complex initiatives from concept to completion. His approach emphasizes accountability, data-driven decision-making, and delivering measurable results.

Committed to preserving what makes Laguna Beach unique, Nick is focused on addressing the city's most pressing challenges with a balanced and practical lens. His priorities include protecting neighborhood integrity, improving parking and traffic management, ensuring responsible fiscal stewardship, and maintaining high standards for public safety and city services. He is also a strong advocate for thoughtful planning that meets state requirements without overburdening the community or compromising the character of the city's neighborhoods and downtown.

Nick is actively engaged in local civic issues and has been a consistent voice on topics ranging from housing policy and development to city budgeting and public transparency. He believes residents should have a clear voice in decisions that impact their daily lives and is committed to ensuring local government remains responsive, efficient, and accountable. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and remains deeply connected to Laguna Beach through both his family and long-standing ties to the community.

A note from Nick

Friends, family, and neighbors

Some of you may already know, and others may have heard through friends, neighbors, or social media, that I have decided to run for Laguna Beach City Council. I wanted to reach out personally and share why.

I've spent my life rooted in this community, and through every chapter one thing has stayed constant: Laguna Beach is home.

My family has deep roots here, stretching back generations. I attended Anneliese, El Morro, Thurston, and LBHS, grew up on our beaches, and have watched our community evolve through both good times and challenging ones. Laguna has always been the place I care about most.

Today, I believe our city is at an important crossroads. Like many residents, I have heard growing concerns about over-tourism, transparency, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and whether residents are truly being heard. I've been going to City Council meetings over the past year and have seen that change is needed. I believe Laguna deserves leadership that listens carefully, communicates openly, and approaches challenges with practical, common-sense solutions. That is why I am running.

My campaign will be guided by a few simple principles: preserve the character and identity of Laguna Beach, be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars, improve transparency and community engagement, and plan thoughtfully for the future while respecting our past.

Most importantly, I would love to hear from you. What concerns you about the future of Laguna Beach? What is working well? What needs improvement? The best ideas come from listening, and I look forward to hearing your perspective.

Thank you for your friendship, encouragement, and support. I am excited about what we can accomplish together.

Sincerely,

Nick Aronoff
